| Here's a beautiful 1912 Cadillac
Model 30 - the historic first production car with a self starter, and
that self starter is still working today ! |
 |
| The former owner lavished attention
and love on this car, almost everything has been professionally rebuilt
- engine, transmission, brakes, and on and on. He owned it for 12
years, and before that it came from Jess Blaker, the famous horseless
carriage collector in Central California. |
 |
| It is beautifully finished in Blue
and black, with correct Nickel trim. |
 |
Although it may not appear obvious,
this car has a number of nice accessories, which weren't standard at the
factory, including
- Windshield - windshields were an accessory,
believe it or not!
- Warner speedometer
- bulb horn
- exhaust whistle
- rim wind clock - which still works and keeps
time !!
|
 |
| The work on this list includes
Professional engine rebuild, brakes, new top, new radiator, Wheels all
rebuilt, a rebuilt transmission - which operates very sweetly I
might add - and lots and lots of cosmetic work. The owner wanted
this car right for touring, and he got his wish after many dollars were
spent. These invoices add up to over $71,000, and the supporting
invoices are included too. |
 |
| What a great looking car! |
 |
| Although it looks like an antique,
this is the first truly modern automobile, with self-starting, and
electric lights! |
 |
| Wonderful in side view. Those
wheels were recently rebuilt. |
 |
| The Nickel plating is very recent,
and looks very rich and nice. |
 |
| I can't stop staring at the deep
refinished wood firewall, with the beautiful gauges and accessories. The
speedometer works, we work our way left to see the amp gauge, the
headlight switch - they work of course - the magneto ignition switch,
the rim wind clock, the oil drip gauge, and the gasoline gauge. |
 |
| pretty! |
 |
| More lovely nickel. |
 |
| Excellent leather seats . |
 |
| Nicely redone steering wheel. |
 |
| The top is new, and was redone in
2006, correctly and nicely. |
 |
| Love that dashboard! |
 |
| Here we see the clutch, the gas
pedal, and brake, along with the gearshift. Just below the driver's seat
cushion is the ignition switch - this powers the ignition, as well as
the 24 volt system to start the car. The 24 volt system is
recharged by an alternator driven off the back of the transmission,
totally hidden unless you crawl under the car. |
 |
| An imposing front view |
 |
| Here you can see the reflections in
the paint, and the relative cleanliness of the undercarriage. This
car has been driven on tours, so it's not totally spotless under there,
but it's still in good order. It should be noted that the left
front fender has some paint cracking. |
 |
| Great! |
 |
| Here's the engine - it runs great (
it should run great after all the $$$$$ that were spent on it! ) 30
Horsepower 4 cylinder. |
 |
| Copper water jackets and tubing. |
 |
| Here's the manifold side. |
 |
| Another look. |
 |
| Excellent side lamps. |
 |
| This is a great accessory, a train
whistle - powered by exhaust gas, it makes a very Horseless Carriage
like noise. |
 |
| You pull this ring out to run the
train whistle. |
 |
| Nice linoleum on the floor,
too. It shows only the slightest markings from touring use. |
 |
| All in all - a great car - lots of
documentation, a very significant year for Cadillac, and
completely prepared and ready to tour now ! |
|
 |
| It includes lots of documentation,
and user guides, and spare parts. |
