This 1932 Packard 901 is a beautiful and fun CCCA Full Classic, engine rebuilt with receipts, a great looking and great driving car, offered by the Vault Classic Cars dealership.

.

Packard really got it right in 1932 – the first year for the V shaped radiator, and clash-free synchro-mesh transmission! And, the final year for the beautiful sweeping open front fender.

.

I love the wire wheels and sidemounts with Bedford Cord 700X19 wide whitewalls

.

Driving this car is really a pleasure – the engine was rebuilt in 1998, there are extensive receipts in the file to show it, and it just runs great. It fires up every time easily, it drives down the road beautifully – with no axle tramp or shimmy – and can easily handle freeway speeds of 60 MPH – yes, I have driven it on the freeway myself, and enjoyed the experience!

Here’s a Video of the car in Operation!

.

The epitome of Classic Styling.

.

Also note the goddess of speed hood ornament and sidemount mirrors.

.

Excellent chrome plating, and those horns work, too ! As do the headlamps !

.

Tastefully pinstriped in blue to accent the Packard Blue body color.

.

Excellent dashboard and beautifully restored steering wheel.

.

Nice ! All of the instruments work except the clock and gas guage.

.

The interior is nicely done in a very light blue-gray, using a modern fabric.  The patterns and stitching are nicely and correctly done.

.

Correct sunvisors.

.

Rear compartment nicely finished, and look at all that legroom!

.

Excellent doorpanels and handles.

.

Nicely done robe rail in wood and chrome.

.

Nice bevelled glass sidemount mirrors – they actually are nice and tight, they don’t vibrate, and actually give the driver a good view of what’s behind the car!

.

Here’s the 320 cubic inch straight 8, rebuilt in 1998, and runs beautifully!  It’s the correct engine for the car, the engine number is right for 1932. The car is titled to the engine number.

.

That’s the original firewall tag.

.

This shot shows the bijur lubricator, as well as the wiring, which was redone to modern standards. Of course the car is still a 6 Volt positive ground system, just like factory.

.

Here’s a nice surprise – The Packard company offered a retro-fit for 1932 Packards to use the later 2 barrel downdraft carburetor after it was introduced in 1933.  So, this car has the slightly more modern factory upgrade, which makes a lot more power than the original detroit lubricator single throat updraft.

.

1932 also had a factory fuel pump, and improvement over the old vacuum tank system.  This car also has a hidden electric pump keyed to the ignition switch. No vaporlocking here!

.

Nice Binder with Restoration receipts. Most of it done in the early 1980’s, and then the engine in 1998.

.

Here’s the work order for the Engine Rebuild.

.

.

Nice leather trunk.

.

I like the trunk nameplate, a real original touch.

.

another view of the trunk.  This would make a great tour car, with plenty of luggage space.

.

the 32 Packard was restored in 1983, and painted in lacquer.  There are some spots on the car that show checking or spot in, like this corner of the front fender.

.

Although the paint does show some age and checking, it’s still holding up pretty well, it’s shiny, and people who see the car on the road think it’s great!  It’s not going to win a show trophy anymore, but you could exhibit the car and it’s still pretty and nice!  And, unlike some of the trophy hound cars, you’ll be able to drive it to the show and back!

.

The right rear fender shows some checking and paint cracks.

.

It’s styling like this that makes the ’32 Packard an especially good year!

.

A great example of the ’32 Packard!

.

That’s a great looking car!

.

Pretty from any angle !

.

Stylish and tasteful, the best that 1932 had to offer!
