This 1939 Cadillac 61 Convertible Sedan  is extremely rare – only 140 were built, and only a handful survive today.  These were luxurious and powerful cars, with the Cadillac monobloc 346 cubic inch V-8,  135 horsepower,  Hydraulic lifters, synchro-mesh transmission, Radio, and heater.

.

The factory sidemounted spares are a nice touch.  This car has benefitted from substantial recent mechanical service, including a rebuilt, Correct 346 cubic inch  Cadillac V-8,  new clutch and pressure plate, rebuilt steering box, rebuilt radio, and much more.  It runs and drives beautifully, and  is a pleasure to operate.  It also has a high speed rear axle installed to allow for extended high speed interstate cruising!

.

Cadillac Styling was beautiful in ’39, with streamlined aerodynamic inspired grilles and beautiful fenders.  A moving tribute to the streamline moderne style of design!   The black paint is older but very nice, with only a few minor scratches and flaws, particularly some cracking on the lower left front fender.

.

Excellent in side view.  Note the beautiful chrome and new Cadillac hubcap emblems.

.

Excellent plating and chrome throughout.  I love those blade style bumperguards.

.

Chrome on Black is a great combination!

.

The license plate is a replica,  – goes with the car, but you couldn’t get it registered that way. Car has a clean Kansas title.

.

Nice!

.

Inviting and comfortable leather interior

.

Plenty of space and comfort!  It’s a Cadillac, after all !

.

The ’39 Dashboard was stylish and modern.

.

Steering wheel is excellent, although I did note a crack.  The center emblem is excellent,  the interior is very nice.

.

The burlwood pattern on the dash is all in great shape, with the exception of the glovebox which has a few cracks showing.

.

Excellent rear compartment.

.

Excellent doorpanels and woodgraining on the window sill.  The window regulators were rebuilt for correct, smooth operation.

.

Excellent.

.

Excellent top bows, done correctly in chrome and tan .

.

Nice top and nicely trimmed sunvisors.

.

Excellent top and correct rear window.  I noted some water staining  on the rear inner top pads, visible in this photo.

.

Here’s the engine bay – that radiator cover was quite an item in ’39 !  Note the correct air cleaner and porcelainized manifolds.  Hood springs need an assist.

.

Nice porcelain, and correct green Cadillac engine paint.  The engine runs really great.

.

Here’s the driver’s side – nice and clean.

.

Note the oil bath air cleaner and dual fuel pump – one section for fuel, the other to generate vacuum. Also, the wiring harness is a new one, in the correct cloth backed wire.

.

Here’s the trim tag.

.

A Wonderful car, ready for AACA tours, Cadillac-LaSalle Club events, or your local tours and events!

.

Excellent in profile

.

Wow!

.

Straight sides and black paint always work well together!

.

A great car to tour and enjoy.
