This 1947 Lincoln Continental has won every trophy worth winning!  The Lincoln Continental Owner’s Club (LCOC) has awarded it numerous first place trophies, It has won 3 CCCA national First Place trophies – First, Senior, and Premier.  It was restored quite some time ago, and fastidiously maintained and refreshed by the former owner so those trophies would keep on coming!

This car is amazingly nice.  Beautiful in every respect. Better in person than the photos can convey. It runs and drives beautifully, the factory overdrive engages every time, it runs cool, and has excellent oil pressure.  The front suspension is nice and tight, and it feels good on the road.

The chrome plating – and there is a lot of chrome plating – is absolutely beautiful!

IMG_9102.

The postwar Lincolns had a massive chrome facade, displaying the new American prosperity after 4 years of war and 11 years of economic depression!

IMG_9105.

The paint is of exceptionally high quality, deep, smooth, and reflective.

Super straight bodywork and look how nicely the doors fit.  That’s a very important element on an open Lincoln Continental,  and these doors line up perfectly and they open with the spring loaded opener properly and they shut easily. That’s something that takes a lot of time during restoration, and the restorer’s efforts paid off mightily.

The original Continental kit!  Except this rear mounted spare tire wasn’t a kit, it was part of the factory design.  And, there’s a spare inside the trunk, too, so in case you are touring you don’t have to remove and chip your tread cover sheetmetal!

More beautiful paint and bodywork.

LCOC and CCCA trophy badges.  the LCOC is a very focused Marque-specific club, they are probably the fussiest judges for this type of car.

Here are the trophies this car won!

Here is the LCOC Emeritus Award – each square at the bottom represents a win at a national event.

Beautiful Leather interior, done correctly.

IMG_5521 (800x600).

The level of quality and detail in the interior is stunning!  Note the red lucite steering wheel, looks like new, and the restored and brilliant instruments!

IMG_9131.

Brilliant and correctly done!  I love that steering wheel!

IMG_9146.

And the horn ring emblem is great too!

IMG_9148.

Beautiful speedometer with gold numbers.

IMG_9149.

Beautiful instruments, all working properly.

IMG_9151.

Beautiful chrome on the radio and speaker grille! The radio indicator lights up but I don’t get any music.

IMG_9152.

Beautiful chrome on the top latches. The top, seat, and windows are all operated by a hydraulic pump under the hood, and activated by the appropriate switch.  The seat and driver window work great, the pump works great, but the top tried but wouldn’t go down. The passenger window also doesn’t raise, which I think is a switch problem.

And beautifully done top irons in chrome and grey metal.

IMG_9141.

Gorgeous!

IMG_9157.

spectacular!  In person the maroon upholstery and carpet are much darker. It closely matches the paint color.

IMG_9159.

Seatbelts are nice

IMG_9160.

Talk about attention to detail – there’s the Lincoln Continental emblem in miniature on the seat belt buckle!

IMG_9161.

There’s the full size emblem on the grille

Excellent engine bay with the Lincoln V-12 of course!  It runs great!

IMG_9167.

It’s a very pleasant car to drive – good power, the factory overdrive works great, and the front suspension is nice and tight and passes the double railroad track test with flying colors!  It runs nice and cool, halfway on the gauge, and the oil pressure is excellent.  The former owners actually toured with this car, and it feels like it’s all sorted out.

IMG_9170.

Note that the postwar cars had cast iron cylinder heads.

IMG_9169.

very nice and correct.
