.

Look at all that chrome!  The lighter colored wood is actually fiberglass, molded to fit the contours of the body, and woodgrained to simulate wood.

.

The Mercury designers wanted a lot of greenhouse – lots of glass, lots of visibility.  And that 4 door pillarless hardtop is a great feature too!

.

I love the open-ness of the design – no pillars, no post to interrupt your vision!  And while we’re here, look how nicely the doorjambs and step plates were done. New weatherstripping, first rate throughout.

.

Wow!  Look at that Grille!  Lots of fresh chrome, a wonderful presentation.

.

And the decorative piece de resistance is the anodyzed tail fin with Mercury running along inside, ending with the tailight housings.  Just spectacular!

.

A great view of the rear tailgate and those amazing tail lights!  The rear window is electric, and works when you turn the key in that round chrome trim above the “M”

.

Can’t get enough of those jet-pod headlamps and turn signal / park lamps.

.

And the Roof Rack! Just in case this wagon wasn’t big enough for all your stuff!

.

The anodyzed gold trim has a pattern or texture to it.  Its really fun to look at!

.

Wow!

.

A beautifully designed dash, in beautifully restored condition.

.

Nicely Done interior!

.

Interesting Pushbutton automatic transmission – works great!

.

Beautiful paint, even in the doorjambs.  Look at the fresh weatherstripping too.

.

Vin # and build codes.

.

Lovely Doorpanels.

.

Beautiful rear seat.

.

Wow!

.

Nicely trimmed cargo area

.

that panel hinges to provide a flat loading surface – on the now laughable assumption that you might put a sheet of plywood or bale of hay in there!

.

Spectacular hubcaps

.

Beautiful Tailights

.

Turnpike Cruiser 368 Cubic Inch engine – rebuilt about 2,500 miles ago, and runs great!  Finished in correct colors and trim.

.

Turnpike Cruiser!

.

Beautifully finished under the hood, too.  The paint quality on this car is super, super high.

.

Sometimes a car is so wonderful it’s hard to find a flaw, but I found a couple very minor ones. There’s a scrape on the upper light “wood” trim on the fender gap area.

.

News Flash!  We’ve just secured a set of NEW OLD STOCK Gold Anydyzed trim, which will be included in case the new owner wants to install them !.

.

Very hard to see in this photo, but there are a few extremely minor blemishes in the gold trim on the left side only. If you look close below the doorhandle you can make ’em out.  Why do I even bring this stuff up?  I guess to make the point that, although this is an unbelievably nice car, with a fresh and thorough restoration, there are always a couple of things to notice.  It’s maybe one small notch away from top show car status, but it is astonishingly nice.  And, I would ask, where is a nicer one?

.

One last incredibly picky thing to mention – a little bit of a wrinkle and split on the dashpad, visible through the windshield.

.

Another detail to love – the radio antenna that matches the angle of the wrap-around windshield glass!  And that passenger mirror! Awesome!

.

An incredibly beautiful personification of the 1950’s American dream!
