This 1960 Corvette is a great California survivor, with black license plates, 327 V-8, 4 speed and silver with white coves.  The former owner’s widow told us that her husband bought it in the 1960’s, and he was the second owner.

It’s been sitting for many years indoors in  the same California garage, and now with some new Firestone whitewalls it’s back on all 4 paws, and looking good!

img_6885.

And out in the California sunshine now!

.

img_6850.

That’s a nice looking Corvette!  Note the black plate with current tags – clean California title.  The paint job is decent, in Sateen Silver with white coves.

img_6897.

the Red Interior makes a dramatic statement against the silver body.

Excellent panel and door fit. The Fiberglass appears to be in very good shape.

 Nice!img_6849.

It’s not a showcar, but just a good, solid, California survivor.

img_6901.

This is a car that gets a huge crowd reaction – if you’re an American you love this car! On my short drive around the neighborhood I got a great response from people – thumbs up, waves – everybody loves a Corvette!  It makes me feel good to drive it!

img_6852.

It has the original hardtop.  It’s a hardtop only equipped car.

img_6851.

There is something about a Corvette – a car to show off, a car to tell everyone you’ve arrived in style! And even though this one needs some restoration and work, It’s a good, honest car!

img_6854.

Silver goes great with the red interior.

img_6856.

Older but serviceable interior, with original carpeting and dashboard. But not a trophy winning interior, the seats, carpet and doorpanels show some use and wear.

img_6861.

Nice dashboard.

img_6860.

Factory tachometer and instruments. The Tach & Speedometer don’t work.  All other gauges do work properly.

img_6857.

The Corvette control panel was a masterpiece, evoking the best of the Jet Age!

Original headliner in the Hardtop.

This is a 327 Chevy V-8, obviously a later non-matching engine.

img_6873.

Classic high performance accessories include the Edelbrock Torker Manifold, headers, and a solid lifter camshaft.   I also noticed that the heater box is missing. It’s warm here in California!  I hear what I think is valvetrain noise, there is a noise that I was not able to fix by adjusting the valves.

img_6877.

Here’s the trunk.

img_6879.

The actual original spare tire cover and the remnants of the original trunk mat.  Nice to see the original pieces!

img_6878.

Clean inner trunk lid

img_6880.

An ancient bias-ply whitewall, but we don’t think it’s the original spare tire.

img_6883.

Clean inner spare tire well.

img_6905.

Solid California frame – rust free except for surface rust.

img_6907.

Good and solid underneath!

img_6876.

All four hubcaps are nice

img_6870.

Fires right up and runs good.  I noted good, strong oil pressure, cool running temperatures, and good power.  I think because of the length of storage, local drives would be fine but you wouldn’t want to drive it cross-country until a full mechanical evaluation was done. In particular, I notice a lifter / valvetrain noise that doesn’t seem to go away.

img_6847.

A clean ’60 Corvette – a nice looking car that could be improved while driving it!
