Ladies & Gentlemen, From Los Angeles, California, the Jaguar!  Here’s a 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2  Left hand drive U.S. Delivery coupe, sold new by Charles Hornberg Jaguar on Wilshire Boulevard!  It has its original engine, and it runs great – with a recent engine-out servicing and re-seal with receipts.

That is a handsome car, with wire wheels, factory air conditioning, 4.2 litre 6 cylinder overhead cam engine, Borg Warner automatic transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, and independent front and rear suspension.

IMG_5873.

The Red leather interior is a perfect color choice against the silver exterior.

IMG_5874.

Jaguar got the styling just right!

IMG_5875.

Pretty!

Here it is in operation!

IMG_5878.

Very pretty indeed!

IMG_5881.

Very nice chromium plating up front!

IMG_5884.

Sharp!

IMG_5882.

Its a series 2 Jaguar, from the series built from 1968 to 1970, with 6 cylinder engine and open headlights.

IMG_5886.

Chrome wire wheels really make the car!  and notice how nice these wheels are, the chrome is excellent.

IMG_5887.

Good California undercarriage, with very recent dual exhausts from front to back. we’ll see more of that in the undercarriage photos.

IMG_5896 .

Very nice red leather interior.

IMG_5898.

Beautiful wood rimmed steering wheel, extremely clean dash, brilliant instruments.

IMG_5899.

IMG_5911.

Twin Stromberg-Zenith  Carburettors, spelled the English way!

IMG_5913.

Nicely porcelainized exhaust manifolds. This view shows the air compressor. The A/C is all hooked up but does not blow cold.

IMG_5915.

This is a race-bred machine to be sure.

IMG_5919.

Wow!

IMG_5917.

There’s the engine number – 7R36008-9, which tells us it was a 9 to 1 compression ratio engine.  This engine is still in the car.

IMG_5916.

1R40980BW  is the car number, and it tells us this is a Left Drive 2+2 coupe, with Borg Warner automatic transmission. there is also a vin tag on the driver’s windshield post that matches. The title is correct and matches the car. The paperwork is clean and the car will export with no problem.

img_7325.

Here’s the VIN tag on the left windshield pillar, which matches the data plate and the title.

IMG_5912.

The front subframe must have been changed, this is from an earlier car.

IMG_5920.

Here’s the original owner, from Beverly Hills, CA.

IMG_5923.

Original Owner’s manual

IMG_5926.

And plastic Jaguar document folio.

IMG_5893.

The paint job is an older one, and it looks like there are some flat spots, most notably on the roof and on the left front fender, shown below.

IMG_5908.

There’s a flat spot just to the left of the chrome bead line.

IMG_5946.

Clean engine, very recent dual exhausts, and clean, dry, original floors.

IMG_5942.

Excellent lower doors, no rust here.

IMG_5947.

Super solid floors and rocker panels.

IMG_5949.

I put a magnet to the lower portion of the body, and the magnet sticks . This car shows the reason why California cars have a great reputation for solid bodies and rust free sheetmetal.

IMG_5944.

Nice under the rear section of the body

IMG_5943.

Here’s the left side lower rear sheetmetal.

IMG_5952.

Some small flaws in the chrome on the rear bumper.
