| This car was manufactured in very late June, 1966.
All of the major components support this, except for the cylinder heads,
which are a little earlier, from February. All of this decoding
was done using Colvin's book " Chevrolet by the numbers,
1965-69" You are encouraged to have your favorite Corvette
expert review this information. We're not Corvette experts, so you
should make sure these numbers match to your satisfaction BEFORE
purchasing the car. |
 |
| Correct Holley, P/N 3884505 |
 |
| Correct Winters aluminum intake manifold, P/N 390490 |
 |
| Engine Casting date F 9 6 means June 9th,
1966. The Car itself was built in 4th week of June, 1966, so this
matches right up . |
 |
| Correct 3858174 Block |
 |
| HT 124819 - Stamping matches the VIN #.
HT means 350 HP, 4 speed, Hi lift cam. Reference page 42, Colvin's
"Chevrolet by the numbers, 1965-69". I've had 2 Corvette
experts look at the stamping, and they both think the block has been
decked and restamped, using the correct and very likely the original
block. |
 |
| Here's the vin tag. |
 |
| Here's the trim tag. SDT trim means black interior.
988 Paint means Milano Maroon, the color we see on the car today. |
 |
| Here's the transmission, 3885010 is the correct casting
number per Colvin, Page 278 . Obviously, it's a Muncie M-20 4
speed wide ratio. |
 |
| P = Muncie Plant 06 16 = June 16, 1966
assembly date. |
 |
| There's the VIN # stamped in the transmission, matches the
car. |
 |
| these are the correct heads for this car - the double
camel hump 2.02 intake high performance head - "B 14 6"
date, meaning they were cast in February, 14, 1966 |
 |
| Here's the other head, also a February cylinder head. |
 |
| The Famous Double Camel Hump on the cylinder head. |
 |
| AO is the code for Positraction , 3.70 to 1. |
 |
| Here is the date stamping on the rear axle. |
