Here is an example of a car I looked at for a pre-purchase inspection recently.  It was advertised as "AACA Senior First place winner" .  You'll see from the write-up that it was  mis-described. Even though the buyer was extremely motivated to buy this car, after learning of the true condition, he declined the transaction.

Consignment – Brokerage

Appraisal of value: $500- Includes detailed digital or hardcopy photos, Full write-up, including a judging sheet to CCCA standards.  This  assumes the car is brought to my location for the appraisal.

Consultation / expert witness: $ 150 per hour, plus expenses.

Travel: $1.00 per mile in the Metro Los Angeles Area, actual expenses for other types of Travel.

Daily Rate: $ 900

 I have extensive experience restoring, buying, selling and judging Classic and collectible automobiles. I’ve restored two Full Classics to show winning standards, and done partial restorations to many other cars from the 30’s to the 80’s - Classics, muscle cars, and European sports cars. I have a large library of reference material on classic autos, as well as pricing data from a wide variety of sources. I’ve attended every major collector car auction company’s events, going back to the 1970’s. I am in contact with a wide network of buyers and sellers. I am able to properly estimate a value for most cars, taking into account market results, comparable sales and condition. I buy and sell Classic Cars for a living, so I have to know what they're worth !
