1931 LaSalle Fleetwood 345A Touring

This 1931 LaSalle Touring has been beautifully restored by its owner of more than 63 years!  The owner is a professional restorer with too many awards and trophies to count in his career !  And he bought it in 1956, and has been its faithful – and talented – caretaker ever since.

This car was shown at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and it made the 70 mile tour d’Elegance with flying colors!

And here it is today, in colors that match the build sheet and wood wheels professionally restored to “Natural” finish just like the build sheet !  Most of the recent restoration work was done in the 2013-2015 timeframe, so it presents a very fresh appearance,  and it runs and drives like it did when it was new!  I very much enjoyed the driving experience, with good power, good hill climbing performance, excellent brakes and a silky smooth synchro-mesh transmission.

Its a sporty car – yet it has room for 7 passengers when the jump seats are activated

The top and bows are lovely, finished in Haartz  stay-fast cloth with subtle green flecks – a beautiful fabric that is authentic, and documented in an article in “The Classic Car” magazine by one of the Haartz family members.

This car was sold new by the Hall Cadillac Co in Denver, CA.  It was bought by a Mr. Menefee, who ran the livery service at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, based on the recollection of his son, CCCA Member Ray Menefee when he saw this car in 1978.

The 345 cubic inch engine, the original one for this car as we can see on the build sheet, was rebuilt and runs exactly as it should – quiet, powerful, and smooth.

It has an updraft carburetor with air cleaner.  Note the nicely porcelainized exhaust manifolds.

Clean, correct and tidy.  Note the proper hose clamps, and fan belt with no lettering – things that matter in CCCA judging.

Style 4657 refers to the job number on the right side of the build sheet.  Body number 3 shows up there also.

The interior has been redone as original per the build sheet, in black leather.  It’s fresh, soft and comfortable, and stitched correctly.
