This 1936 Packard Super 8 Phaeton has the powerful 385 Cubic inch straight 8,  It runs great, and is ready for CCCA, AACA and Packard club events and tours.  Restored by the expert Tom Sparks at his shop in Hollywood, CA.  It’s an exceptionally rare, sporting body style, and it has its original Packard data plate which validates the coachwork.

.

The fenderline on this car is spectacular – it emphasizes the Super 8 hood, and the generous 139″ wheelbase.

.

Note the Michelin 17″ Tires over factory wire wheels.

.

Optional Counterweighted Bumpers ( like the V-12 cars had) , Bumperguards, spotlight, and Adonis at the Well mascot add to the charm!

Great from any angle!

The spotlight is from the C.M. Hall Lamp Company, Detroit, Michigan,  a Packard supplier for many years.

The heart – 385 cubic inch Packard straight 8.  This engine runs beautifully,  so quiet, and so smooth.

.

Correctly finished in Packard engine green, aluminum crank case, and black accessories. The cylinder head is the desirable “HC”  cast iron cylinder head.

.

By 1936 the Packard Super 8 had a dual throat downdraft carburetor, with automatic choke.

.

Another view of the engine.  The engine runs great, and is assisted by high-speed rear axle gears with a 4.06 ratio,  which makes high speed touring easier on the car.

.

The original data plate is an important part of this car, the 951 designates a ’36 Super 8 Phaeton,  and this is the 5th car built, since they started the sequential numbers at 200.  It was sold new at Packard Motor Car Company of Boston, the New England area Packard Distributor.

.

The engine serial number corresponds to the ’35 Super 8 series,  identical except for the serial number to the ’36 Super 8.
