This 1953 Packard Caribbean was totally professionally restored, with photo and receipt documentation, and it won many national trophies! It’s absolutely beautiful in Packard Maroon.  The Packard Caribbean was the glamor car in 1953, with styling taken from the Packard Pan American special.   Only 750 were built.

The Caribbean came standard with chrome wire wheels, hoodscoop, chrome fender openngs and chrome tailfins!  It had the top of the line 327 straight 8, with five main bearings  and a 4 barrel carburetor for full power!  Packard’s Ultramatic automatic transmission with lockup converter put the power to the ground and Easamatic power brakes make for an effortless driving experience, and hydraulic power windows, seat and top are delightful power accessories.

There’s the 327 Straight 8 with 4 barrel Carburetor and 9 main bearings.  Very nicely detailed with proper colors and finishes. The engine number is L415941, correct for ’53 Caribbeans according to the definitive work on Packard, Beverly Rae Kimes “Packard – A history of the motorcar and the company”.

Lots and lots of receipt copies, mostly from the mid to late 1990’s that document the comprehensive, frame-off no expense spared nature of this restoration.

This is a great car – a show winner that has had consistent maintenance and upgrades to keep it fresh looking and running great!

IMG_6142 (800x533).

I have to admit an emotional connection to this car – my folks had a  different Maroon ’53 Caribbean as their everyday driver back in the 1960’s, and it took us on many family trips and vacations, as well as the epic journey from Chicago to New Orleans to pick up a ’30 Packard 745 Victoria.  But, as Dad said once – “you can’t keep ’em all son!”   It’s been fun to have it in the showroom and drive it a bit,  and it’s time for a new owner to keep the Caribbean flame!
