The dual overhead cam hemispherical combustion chamber arrangement set the standard for high performance since Peugeot introduced the concept in their grand prix cars of 1912 – indeed all of the greats – Miller, Offenhauser, Duesenberg, Stutz, Alfa-Romeo, Ferrari and Lamborghini, and, of course, Jaguar have used this design when the need for speed and power was imperative! As you look at the chiseled cam covers, the porcelainized exhaust manifolds, and the dual SU Carburetors, you know this was built for performance!

.

Dual SU Carburetors! (Note the “type C” cam covers look great, but it’s not a “type C” engine.)

.

The engine was rebuilt about 20 years ago, and was very lightly used.  We were unsatisfied with the ring sealing, so we sent the car to a Jaguar marque specialist to install new rings and do some other recommissioning to put the car back on the road, with excellent results.
